Kyle is a Carolina Friends School alum and a graduate of Smith College, where she majored in Education & Child Study and Studio Art with a concentration in oil painting. Upon graduation Kyle served as a Progressive Education Lab teaching fellow at three independent schools in the northeast and a long term substitute at the Cambridge Friends School. She then added to her range of experiences and toolkit as a full time middle school social studies teacher, advisor, and coach at the Friends School of Wilmington before beginning her work at San Francisco Friends School as a teacher, advisor, and coach in 2019-20. Kyle’s interests span far and wide from athletics including soccer, tennis, basketball, ultimate frisbee and dance, through painting and fashion, to social justice, leadership, and human development.

MY PICK

OF THE MONTH

In addition to taking action, in efforts to engage intellectually with issues of race during this poignant time, myself and a group of friends from Smith College read and discussed this book, Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson. Full of both concrete and intimate examples of racism, anti-blackness, and systemic oppression, this text fueled my desire to be on the right side of history. An adapted version of this book exists for young readers and I look forward to the day I get to engage students with this story.
